Day 1: Lyon

Depart: 9:00 pm

Arrive into Lyon and make your way to your ship for embarkation.  The old town “Vieux Lyon” features Renaissance houses making it worthy of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is for gourmets too: Lyon is dubbed “la ville de gueule” – the gourmet town. Furthermore it is known for its high-quality silk products and the Basilica of Notre-Dame die Fourvière above the city.

Day 3: Avignon

Arrive: 1:00 am  |  Depart 12:00 am

“On the bridge of Avignon, we all dance there” – the words of a folk song from the 15th century pay tribute to the unbridled joie de vivre at the foot of the Palace of the Popes. And this joie de vivre is still very much alive today.  Aside from the famous bridge, you'll be delighted by Avignon’s palaces, wines and culture. The Papal Palace is monumentally impressive, particularly in the evening when it is illuminated by a light show. Rue des Teinturiers, the former textile dyers’ street, is one of the most beautiful streets in Avignon. By a small stream with old water wheels, you’ll find numerous charming cafés to relax, and watch the world go by. Wine connoisseurs, however, are advised to take part in a tasting session in the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This is an informative and inexpensive way to sample famous wines.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Arles

Arrive: 4:00 am

Even if you haven’t yet paid the ancient Roman town a visit, you’re sure to recognise pictures of it. Vincent van Gogh painted Arles in 187 of his works. A few of his motifs have today been restored to their original state. The famous Camargue is also very close to Arles.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Arles - Port St Louis

Depart 9:00 am  |  Arrive Port St Louis: 12:30 pm and Depart: 7:00 pm

The city of Port St Louis is located on the left bank side of the River Rhône at a distance of approximately six kilometres to the Mediterranean Sea. The oldest monument is the tower Saint-Louis built in 1737. The view from its terrace of the beautiful Camargue is simply breathtaking.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Tournon/ Tain-l´Hermitage

Arrive: 4:00 pm  |  Depart: 9:00 pm

Tournon and Tain-l'Hermitage are two picturesque French towns on either side of the Rhône River that are connected by a bridge, so it's easy to see both when your river ship is docked in Tain-l'Hermitage. Visitors love these two "twin cities", especially those who enjoy chocolate and wine. Valrhona’s chocolate is celebrated by sweet-toothed enthusiasts, chefs and candy makers around the world for its taste and quality. The illustrious chocolate manufacturer is based in Tain-l’Hermitage and chocolate confections, bars, sauces, and powders are sold in its boutique at 14, Avenue du Président-Roosevelt.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7: Lyon

Arrive: 7:00 am

This old silk-trading city amazes visitors with its labyrinth of covered passageways called “traboules”. These were originally created to ensure that the silk was kept dry as it was being transported. Today, you’ll experience a world that’s simultaneously old and modern, as Lyon’s residents go about their daily lives surrounded by centuries-old architecture. Even beyond Vieux Lyon, there are great places to shop and go out in France’s third-largest city. And after all that, you can take a breather amid the greenery of Parc de La Tête d’Or, discover Lyon’s rich cultural offerings, or climb to the top of the basilica to enjoy the view and the rich mosaics decorating the walls. Getting hungry? Lyon is famous for its simple but exquisite cuisine focusing on regional products, which has earned Lyon the nickname “la ville de gueule” (“the city of the mouth”).
