ITINERARY

Visit: Avignon, Roussillon, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Avignon

Day 1: Arrival in Avignon

Upon arrival at Avignon TGV Station, you will be transferred to your hotel for check in. The rest of the day is free at leisure for you to explore this beautiful city at your own pace.

Day 2: Avignon - Wine tasting and Picnic Lunch

Breakfast at the hotel. At 09:30am, start your tour. The morning is dedicated to wine tasting theory and techniques. Your tour will start with a scenic drive to the foot of Mont Ventoux through the vineyards of the Ventoux appellation. You will discover an outstanding wine estate and enjoy a guides tour of the cellar.

Practice wine-tasting (discover your 5 senses, the wine's aroma also called nose) and learn how to sample to improve your tasting ability and knowledge. To truly taste a wine, the guide will explain how you must recruit the nose to pick up the flavour scents and the tongue to help discern the tastes. You will taste 4/5 wines (1 white, 1rosé and 2/3 red wines)

After the tasting session, a picnic lunch will be served on the terrace of the château, sheltered by centenary plane trees. Taste terroir products (seasonal fruits and vegetables, tapenade, goat cheese..) pairing with the wines of the domain. Drive back to Avignon. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.

Day 3: All Provence in One day

Breakfast at the hotel. At 09:00am, meet at the meeting point for the start of your full day tour. Enjoy a shared tour to discover the most beautiful monuments and spots in Provence. Start with Roussillon: a village built at the top of an ochre cliff and provided visitors with a beautiful understanding of the harmonious combination of man and nature and of ochre and stone: with all these ochre-washed facades.
Continuation toward Gordes for a photo stop. It is a nice village erected on top of a cliff where its fortified castle and church dominate the typical houses of the village which were built with stones from the rock on which they are fitting.
Drive to Fontaine de Vaucluse: walk up to the cave from which the River Sorgues emerges. This impressive resurgence spring hasn't revealed its secrets yet and many speleologists have searched in vain the exact depth of the well.
Continue to the Pont de Gard (entrance fees included): visit the best preserved aqueduct of the Roman period, dating back to the 1st century and listed by UNESCO. Les Baux de Provence: photo stop and free time to visit this medieval village located on a rocky spur in the Alpilles Mountain Range. Photo stop at the Antiques in Saint Rémy de Provence (Triumphal Arch and Mausoleum) located in an olive- tree field.
At 19:30pm you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Day 4: Culture & Wine Morning Tour and Cooking Class

Breakfast at the hotel. At 09:00am, meet at the meeting point for your tout. Enjoy a shared half day tour to Orange and Chateauneuf du Pape. Orange, enjoy a panoramic tour of the city and its roman monuments, Triumphal Arch, Antique Theater (entrance ticket and audioguide included) one of the best preserved theaters from the Roman period. Châteauneuf du Pape, enjoy a scenic drive and sightseeing in the vineyards followed by a wine tasting in a cellar. Good introduction to the wines of the Rhône Valley. During the tour, get explanations about "terroir", grape varieties, vinification and aging cellars.
16:00-17:00pm - Enjoy an afternoon cooking class with an English speaking chef in his charming restaurant in Avignon center. During the Apéritif, various thinkings about the course given together with how to pair the meals with wine. Dinner (drinks included).

Day 5: Cooking Class in the Alpilles Region

Breakfast at the hotel. At 08:30am, meet your English speaking driver/guide and depart for a cooking class in the Alpilles area. After lunch, head to Villeneuve les Avignon, where you will visit an olive mill and enjoy an olive oil tasting. Free time to discover the charming village. At 18:00pm you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Day 6: Morning Cooking Class in the Pope's City

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a short walk and meet your English speaking Chef in front of the wall of Les Halles, covered market displaying fresh and colourful food every morning. Choose with him the best local products that you will cook during the lesson. Arrival at his workshop in Avignon and registration of the trainees. Creation of recipe cards to be performed. Theoretical demonstration with practice. During the Apéritif, various thinkings about the course given together with how to pair the meals with wine.
Lunch (drinks included) with the Chef and informal talk about the course presented.
Afternoon at leisure to enjoy Avignon at your own pace with the tickets for the Popes' Palace, the biggest gothic palace in Europe and for the Pont d'Avignon, famous for the French song 'Sue le Pont d'Avignon and a wine tasting at a wine shop.

Day 7: Departure from Avignon

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Avignon TGV Station for you departure or onward journey.
