Visit: Krakow, Czestochowa, Prague, Oberammergau to Munich

Day 1 (Thursday): arrive Krakow

Upon arrival to Krakow airport, transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure, to start exploring on own. Tonight, meet your fellow travellers at welcome dinner.

Day 2 (Friday): Krakow

After breakfast, guided tour of one of Poland’s most important religious cities, Krakow. Start the city tour at the Old Town area, with its Market Square. Visit St. Mary’s Basilica, to see the famous gothic wooden altarpiece carved by Viet Stoss. Continue to see the other impressive buildings, such as Cloth  Hall, The Town Hall Tower, and Burger house. While there, be  sure to listen for the ‘hajnal’, which is famous bugle call to the four corners of the world from the high tower of St. Mary’s  Basilica. In the afternoon, visit the Convent of the Sisters of  Mercy, where St. Faustina lived and died. Evening at leisure.

After breakfast, take a morning city tour of downtown Munich, featuring the Koenigsplatz, old and new Pinakothek, the Isartor (city gate), the royal palace, the angel of freedom and Odeonsplatz. View also the Olympic park, site of the 1972 summer Olympics and which, today, has become an attractive sports and leisure centre. The platform on the Olympic tower provides a superior view over the city of Munich. Enjoy a scenic drive through the city where you’ll see such sights as the baroque Nymphenberg palace, the former summer residence of the Wittlesbach dynasty and the Marienplatz with its famous glockenspiel clock. Enjoy remainder of the day at leisure.

See the Palace of Science and Culture (known as a “wedding cake”), the Saxon Gardens, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto and the Barbican. Then a walking tour shows you Old Town, Old Market Square and St. John’s Cathedral. The rest of the day is free. You might want to attend an optional late afternoon Chopin concert.
